I'm a big fan of using color to accomplish unexpected results. So when I got the opportunity to paint an artist's kitchen here in the Hawthorne District, I jumped on the chance to be creative. I wanted the stain on these cabinets to go with the green of the handmade accent tiles. All of the woodgrain is still visible, which visually ties these two pieces to the fir floor. At the same time, the color compliments the stainless steel oven. It's worth noting that not only are the finishes I used environmentally friendly, but all of the wood used on this project is reclaimed lumber. Contact Tim at Miraclefactory for more information about custom built furniture out of reclaimed lumber. He built these one-of-a-kind pieces to fit this space.

Here is a picture of the pieces prior to stain and clearcoat. Kudos to Tim for the courage to let me stain his wood green... I know it wasn't what he had in mind.
