I started painting furniture by mixing leftover house paint to satisfy a creative urge. The idea was to use an analagous color scheme but still introduce enough motion that it appears these chairs could get up and walk away on their own.

I wanted to see if I could create that sense of motion by using an analagous color scheme without relying on the addition of pure black and white. The result is my favorite piece to date. This rocker is my wife's favorite garden chair.
This is the first chair I painted with the exact same colors of the exterior I was working on at the time. The home had metallic copper gutters, so I incorporated metallic copper paint as a sixth color:

I found that six colors is the fewest I can use to keep a sense of motion in these pieces.
