Nothing customizes an interior paint job like faux finish. I am familiar with a variety of decorative paint techniques and graphic effects, most of which are not much more expensive than standard wall painting.
This detail shows a french brushed colorwash with a metallic gold accent.

A simple line divides this room, adds visual weight to the bottom of each wall, and is the easiest way to have two colors on the same wall.
Sponging is probably the most common form of faux finish. The trick is to do it so each individual "hit" blends in with all the rest, and there is no discernible pattern.
