I start all faux finish projects with at least two 2' by 4' sample boards showing the same colors in different proportions and techniques. I added two trim colors the homeowner was thinking about using to the first two boards. I created the third board on the right as a variant after we decided the first two boards weren't quite what we wanted.
The change in this room was quite dramatic.
I painted the wall sconces metallic gold to help tie the gold bricks of the fireplace into the rest of the room. The outlet plates, door hinges, and vent cover were also painted metallic gold.
